A total of 35 nations from Africa will compete for only two slots allocated to the continent for the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup
Ayub Khalifa has urged his Uganda Women U18 team to shift their focus to the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after losing the CECAFA U18 title to Tanzania.
Uganda had been running toe-to-toe against the hosts in the tournament that was held in Dar Es Salaam last week but fell short on the last day.
The team entered the final day on Friday last week in need of at least a draw to clinch the title but ended up losing to Tanzania 1-0.

Uganda now needs to hold Tanzania to any draw, at least when they meet in the last game on Friday afternoon.
Despite the results, Khalifa says he is impressed with his team’s overall performance and now continues preparations for the World Cup qualifiers that kick off in September.
“It is disappointing that we could not finish on a high,” Khalifa said.
“The main intention to play here was to prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers that will come later this year. I believe the players have benefited a lot, and hopefully, we will continue to make progress,” he added.
A total of 35 nations from Africa will compete for only two slots allocated to the continent.
Four of the five countries that participated in the CECAFA tournament registered to take part in the qualifiers and have been placed in Pot A.
They include the winners Tanzania, Uganda, Djibouti and Burundi.
Uganda received a bye from the first round and will start their campaign in the second phase against Mozambique.
The winner of the tie will face the winner in the tie between Senegal and Benin.
The global showpiece will be held from September 5th to 22nd in Colombia, South America.
