Denis Onyango
Former Uganda Cranes captain, who now represents the South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, has reached the MTN 8 Cup final.
Sundowns secured their spot by narrowly defeating their rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, with a 2-1 win on Saturday, leading them to advance 3-2 on aggregate.
Although Onyango was part of the squad, he remained benched throughout the game. The team will face Orlando Pirates at the final on 7th October, hosted at Moses Mabhinda Stadium.
Bevis Mugabi
The centre-back for Uganda Cranes played the entire game for Motherwell, which unfortunately suffered a 1-0 defeat against Rangers on Sunday.
This marked Motherwell’s second consecutive loss in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Rayon Sport Legion (Charles Bbaale, Joackim Ojera, Musa Esenu, and Simon Tamale)
All four Ugandan players are part of the Rwandan team, Rayon Sport. Musa Esenu and Joackim Ojera played in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round first-leg tie against Libya’s Al Ahly Benghazi.
Charles Bbaale was on the bench, whereas Simon Tamale wasn’t in the match-day squad. The game concluded with a 1-1 tie.
Rayon Sport scored the lead in the 55th minute thanks to Heritier Luvumbu Nzinga after a foul on Musa Esenu in the penalty area. However, Benghazi managed to equalise with only five minutes remaining in the game.
Rogers Mugisha
This Gor Mahia midfielder was included in the 18-man squad in the Kenya Premier League on Sunday, where K’Ogalo secured a point away to Kakamega Homeboyz. Mugisha was on the bench but did not play.
