Three teams have so far shown the ability to go all the way in the title race.

Ulinzi Starlets stunned Wadadia 2-0 in a Football Kenya Federation Women's Premier League (FKFWPL) match played at Mumias Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The home side was looking to continue with their winning streak, and they nearly got off to a perfect start when Jackline Chesang struck the crossbar from six yards out, and Laura Shitawa saw her goal-bound strike cleared off the line by Starlets defender Sherly Andiba.

Rashid Sumba's charges were camped in the Ulinzi half for most of the opening quarter of an hour, and Wadadia were nearly gifted in the 13th minute by an error from Starlets goalkeeper's failure to hold on to the ball, but the hosts were unable to capitalize on the box.

Starlets then started dominating the proceedings, and they took the breakthrough in the 20th minute when Mercy Airo found herself on the end of a Fasila Adhiambo's cross and made no mistake.

While Wadadia started the second stanza at a high tempo, they were far more lethal in front of goal and with just ten minutes remaining, Fasila Adhiambo found the back of the net to seal a 2-0 win.

The three points meant that Ulinzi Starlets remained third on the table, while Wadadia stagnated in fourth place, with six points separating the two sides.

Elsewhere, Vihiga Queens looked to narrow the gap between themselves and log leaders Gaspo Women.

The four-time league champions took on Thika Queens in what proved to be a tightly fought contest at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

However, after a resilient opening 40 minutes, the resolute Thika were eventually breached as Bertha Omita scored what proved to be the winning goal with a superb volley.

The slender 1-0 win was Vihiga's 14th victory of the season and has left them just a goal difference of three adrift of Gaspo, who walloped Kisumu All Starlets 3-0 at GEMS Cambridge School.

In that match, Gaspo grabbed an early lead after Lydia Akoth got an opportunity to score into an empty net to make it 1-0.

All Stars had to find a way to level matters, and Beverline Adika kept the Gaspo defence busy as she looked to find the back of the net.

The experienced forward was denied by Gaspo Women goalkeeper Valentine Khwaka just before the half-hour mark.

Gaspo were leading 1-0 against Kisumu All Starlets during the half-time break.

After the restart, Ghost Mulee's charges piled pressure on the All Starlets defence, and they scored their second goal in the 75th minute through a clever chip from Lavyne Achola.

Lydiah Akoth put the game to bed deep into stoppage time when she fired past All Starlets goalkeeper after being teed-up by Josephine Nana.
