Bugema University bounced back from a 3-1 opening defeat to Uganda Martyrs University to demolish Kabale University, 6-0, in Group A action in Bugema.

A brace from Isaac Ssenyunja led the East African champions to their first victory this season.

At the same time, goals from Eric Sawa, Aziz Opio and Innocent Musuk rounded off the scoring.

“The first group game didn’t go as planned, so we must thank the coaches for helping us get to this level,” Ssenyunja said after the game.

“We have our ambitions as players of this university to get it to a new level, and that includes individual training on top of what the coaches prepare us before the game.”

Despite the victory, head coach Medhi Nyazi wasn’t pleased with his side’s performance, claiming they can play much better.

“We had better preparations, and we anticipated that we would get the win; we wanted to bounce back from the defeat in our opening fixture against Uganda Martyrs, and I am happy for the win,” Nyazi noted.

“I am not convinced with my players because I believe we can do better to get the win, and we can play even much better,” he added.

The win takes Bugema University to three points in Group A, just behind Uganda Martyrs University , who have secured maximum points after two games.
