Uganda Christian University (UCU) unleashed a devastating blow, demolishing Busitema University 7-1 in a group D match of the University Football League, hosted in Mukono.

UCU's captain Geoffrey Gagganga and Peter Kyomuhendo effortlessly steered the team towards victory by each securing a hat-trick, propelling the Mukono-based side to their second win of the season.

Despite the impressive scoreline, UCU Coach Collines Ahumuza articulated that the team did not perform to their full potential even though they triumphed by a wide margin.

“While a 7-1 win at home is commendable, we played well but not to our utmost. The home-ground advantage and our fans undoubtedly bolstered our confidence. We now set our sights on the subsequent game," Ahumuza said after the game.

As we approach week three of the University Football League, Pulse Sports Uganda presents the top five universities in our power rankings, determined by results, goals scored, goals conceded, and overall performance.

Expressing gratitude towards his squad, UCU Captain Gagganga underscored the collective effort and dynamism that went into the game.

“I extend my thanks to my teammates for the unified play and conversion of our opportunities, stemming from rigorous training. Today's victory is the fruit of our labor, yet our journey does not end here," Gagganga remarked.

On the contrary, Busitema University's head coach, Abdulnoor Musisi, sees this substantial defeat as a wakeup call for his team, especially following their initial win.

“Possessing a young squad, today’s outcome provides a stark reality check, indicating where we must elevate our game as we progress. The strategy moving forward involves revisiting our plans and emerging stronger," Musisi shared with the media.

Busitema University anticipates a recovery from this setback in their upcoming match against Kumi University, while Uganda Christian University aims to secure a third consecutive win facing Kampala International University next.
