It will be a must-win encounter for each of Victoria University and Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) when the two face off in the Pepsi University Football League on Thursday at Kabojja.

None of the two is assured of progress yet, with IUIU sitting second with six points in four matches, while IUIU rock the bottom with two in Group B.

There will be no room for slumber for either side, as victory will indeed play a huge role in boosting passage to the knockout stages.

Victoria University head coach Emmanuel Amagu is optimistic his side can pull off a maiden win in this season's edition despite the woeful run.

"There is pressure on every game; we need a win. The players need a win. And I want to win more than anyone," Amagu told the press.

"At the moment, we are nowhere near where we want to get to. But you can't stick the cherry on top before building the foundations," he added.

On the other hand, Islamic University In Uganda coach Haruna Kebba wants his team to stay calm but confident as they edge towards the knockouts.

“I know that we are facing a herculean task on Thursday, but all the same, I want to tell my fans to relax and trust that by the close of the day, our team will give the fans good results," Kebba said.

In the same group, Makerere University Business School (MUBS) lead the way with 10 points, while YMCA sit third with four in as many games.
