Ahead of their maiden bout in the 2023/24 Pepsi University Football League season, Kabale University is optimistic that they can make it at least to the knockout stage.

However, first, they will have to deal with the test provided by the University of Kisubi on Friday at their Kikungiri Grounds in Kabale.

Kabale's head coach, Farouk Nsubuga, is filled with optimism that his team can fend off any opposition from Kisubi and ultimately make it out of the group.

"We have had some good training, and I believe we are ready and prepared, and we shall start the season on a high note with a win at home," Nsubuga told the media.

"We were drawn in a tough group with the current champions and Bugema, but I believe this time we should be able to qualify for the knockout stage," he added.

On the other hand, the University of Kisubi will be keen on picking an away victory, and head coach Jesse Lukoki is buoyant.

"The team is ready and well-prepared. We have been looking forward to starting, and I know we shall get a good result in Kabale even though we are away from home."

The pair will be facing each other for the first time in history, and victory will indeed be high on the cards for either team.
