Kampala International University (KIU) will seek swift recovery from their match day one defeat to Busitema when they host Kumi University on Saturday in the Pepsi University Football League.

Kampala International University (KIU) will seek swift recovery from their match day one defeat to Busitema when they host Kumi University on Saturday in the Pepsi University Football League.

KIU head coach Geoffrey Akabwai has stressed that he intends to capitalize on their home fans against a side that will also be desperate for points.

"The most exciting aspect for us is also coming back to the University Football League after two seasons, to play in front of our fans, seeing them in person and feeling the energy they provide to the player," he told the media.

"I think the KIU fans are going to love seeing this team in action, and we are going to love playing with their support," added Akabwai.

The tactician also added that they're looking at using their opening-day defeat as motivation for glory on Saturday.

"We have gone back to the drawing board and made some changes to the team, and we feel we are a strong unit again which can challenge in the next game".

On the other hand, Kumi University, who also failed to win their opening game and lost 2-0 at home to Uganda Christian University, won't settle for another disappointment when they visit KIU.

"It's still early in the day. I know we shall pick up and win our remaining fixtures," Opam said.

"Having lost at home to UCU, we must recover and win this game away to improve our chances of making it to the next round, and I know we shall," Opam added.

UCU top Group D proceedings with six points in two matches, with Busitema in the second with three. KIU and Kumi occupy third and fourth, respectively, failing to garner a single point.
