FOOTBALL University Football League: UCU want to seal knockout stage deal in style

Uganda Christian University (UCU) will seek to wrap progress to the knockout stages of the Pepsi University Football League in style as they host strugglers Kumi University in Mukono on Wednesday.

With 10 points in Group D from four games, UCU will be through to the knockout rounds should they pick three points on home turf

And head coach Collines Ahumuza has urged his troops to avoid any lapses and keep their eyes glued on the prize.

“Going into the game against Kumi, we aren't looking down, we set our targets to win one game at a time, and the boys are up for the task,” Ahumuza told the press.

“The results will come if we play to our strengths and according to the game plan. After the draw against KIU, I expect a better performance and better results from this game,” he added.

On the other hand, Kumi University's slim chances of progress lie with a win in Mukono and will stay with anything short of that.

They sit at the base with just two points in four matches, and head coach John Opam will be keen on pulling off the unthinkable on enemy territory.

“We go into the game knowing that UCU are a very good side, and have been playing together for a while. But we have been improving with each game that we have been playing and I believe we can get something from this game,” Opam said.

“We want to upset the hosts in front of their home crowd and I believe we can,” he added.

In the same group, Busitema University occupies second place, while Kampala International University (KIU) sits third with five and four points, respectively.
