Pulse Sports can confirm on solid ground that the Joogos have finally received over UGX3B in compensation from Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).
The compensation is for the club's famous training ground, Villa Park, which was taken up by the road's construction authority for the Kampala flyover project.
Villa Park Demolition
Villa Park, which was home to SC Villa for over three decades as a training ground, was earmarked as part of the spots where the Kampala flyover would be constructed.
In a 2019 consent order, it was agreed that Villa Members Trust and SC Villa would be paid over UGX3B in compensation for their land following the Chief Government Valuer's report.
Court
In 2022, the Villa members club won a lawsuit against UNRA when the court ordered the road authority to pay the club Ugx 200M as damages for delayed compensation of part of Villa Park.
This after payment had dragged on, in a ruling dated 22nd July 2022, justice john Eudes Keitirima awarded the club shs200m over delayed compensation.
This reporter reached out to the club hierarchy for a comment - notably executive member Muhammed Bazirengedde but all his known phone numbers were unavailable by press time.
Having received the money, it remains to be seen if the club will invest in a training ground facility or start the construction of a stadium, as reports had earlier been making rounds.
Sportingly SC Villa sit second on the l15 team log of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, level on points as leaders Vipers with three rounds of games left; the Jogoos last won the league in 2004.
