The football season break is winding up for many players, and as they regroup for a new campaign just like Darius Ojok, targets are being set.

The Maroons midfielder, was in superb form last season, winning the Young Player of the Season award at the Pilsner – StarTimes Uganda Premier League awards.

The 20-year-old made 15 appearances overall, but 14 came in the second round of the campaign, scoring three goals in the process.

He is ready to replicate last season’s form and even do better: “The first round was tough, we were struggling.”

“But we fought back and finished sixth, which was a great job from everyone in the team,” Ojok told Pulse Sports before adding.

“I had a long injury layoff in the first round but bounced back in the second round; I gave it my all, and next season, I am positive I will do better.”

“I aim to break into the U-20 national team and see how the season goes,” the enterprising winger added.

Ojok beat KCCA FC midfielder Saidi Mayanja and S.C Villa’s Patrick Kakande to the award.

Maroons on Sunday confirmed the departure of five players whose contracts had expired, including Samson Kigozi, Brian Nkuubi, Noel Nasasira and Simon Tamale, who has already moved on, signing with Rwanda’s Rayon Sport.

Head coach Mohammed Senfuma who also recently extended his stay at the side for three more seasons, is expected to make more signings to replace the departed players.

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League season is expected to begin on 15th September 2023.
