The former Real Madrid forward believes Sadiq has done well since arriving in January but insists Duro remains the best option for Los Che.
Sadiq struggling to get into Valencia team
Since joining Valencia from Real Sociedad in the winter transfer window, Sadiq has been trying to prove himself.
)
The Nigerian striker left the Basque club due to a lack of game time, and while he has seen slightly more minutes at the Mestalla, he is still playing second fiddle to Duro.
The 25-year-old Spaniard has been Valencia’s go-to striker for the last two years, contributing seven goals and two assists in 21 La Liga appearances this season.
)
Ferrer, however, sees no reason for a change. Speaking to Onda Deportiva Valencia, he made it clear that the Super Eagles star must wait for his chances, saying, “Sadiq is doing very well and will have more opportunities. But for me, the Valencia centre forward has to continue being Hugo Duro.”
Sadiq’s hoping for more minutes after recent move
Despite Ferrer’s stance, Sadiq has shown glimpses of his quality. He has scored twice in seven games, including a crucial equaliser in the Valencia derby against Villarreal.
)
While that is a promising return, it may not be enough to dislodge Duro, especially with the Spaniard’s consistent presence in the team.
Sadiq’s struggles at Real Sociedad and past injury setbacks have slowed his progress, but he appears eager to revive his career.
)
For now, he must remain patient and make the most of his opportunities which could happen if Duro’s form dips or he suffers an injury.
