Hugo Duro scored to give Valencia the opener but a brace from Robert Lewandowski helped Barcelona win maximum points.

Key match actions

Valencia dominated the opening exchanges. They stifled Barcelona and threatened offensively, but missed that bit of efficiency in the final third.

They eventually found the opener just before half-time, much-deserved given their dominance up to that point. Hugo Duro was rightly positioned to head past Marc Andre Ter Stegen after a delivery from Diego Lopez to give Los Che the lead.

Their joy dissipated quickly, however, as Robert Lewandowski equalised moments later.

Alejandro delivered a delicious cross to the back post, and Lamine Yamal knocked it back across goal for the Polish striker to tap in.

Parity was restored, and both teams headed into half-time with neither having secured an advantage. Barcelona were much improved in the second-half and scored almost immediately after resumption.

Raphinha was clipped in the box by Mosquera. Lewandowski stepped up to take the resulting penalty and dispatched it effortlessly. The Blaugrana dominated the game from that point on and had chances to compound the scoreline, but had poor finishing to blame for the game ending 2-1.
