Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes Erling Haaland should not have been given a penalty in the Premier League clash with Chelsea.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes VAR should have intervened and overturned the penalty that led to Manchester City’s first goal against Chelsea.
The Blues played a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge against Pep Guardiola’s City, and the journey to eight goals began with an Erling Haaland penalty in the 25th minute of the game.

Palmer is 10 times better than Havertz: Chelsea fans celebrate new star-boy
Chelsea fans are delighted with new signing Cole Palmer after his superb performance against Manchester City.
Referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot after a grapple between Haaland and Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella saw the Norwegian brought to the ground. A VAR review went on after the call and the technology upheld the on-field decision.
Former Liverpool man Carragher, who is now a pundit, believes the call was harsh and VAR should have intervened.
How it happened
“No doubt Cucurella has arms all around Haaland. I think the referee has given a penalty. No doubt he [Cucurella] is out of position,” he began, per the Daily Mail.
“Silva deals with it, look at two of them at the back-post, Haaland has hold of him as well. Think that will be very harsh—six of one, half a dozen of another—no doubt towards the end it looks certain penalty.
“The frustration with Chelsea supporters is Recce James went down holding his head, Anthony Taylor was just there. No, this isn't right. All about the back-post. No this is not right, not the right decision.
“The var have looked at it and confirmed to Taylor to give penalty they were looking at the end of the tussle; they have to look at the start of it. The reason Haaland gets ahead is he pulls Cucurella's shirt. I think that's very harsh on Chelsea.”
