Veteran FKF Premier League striker Enock Agwanda has dubbed Gor Mahia as unmatched among fellow community clubs AFC Leopards and Shabana.

Veteran Kenyan striker Enock Agwanda has offered a candid perspective on why Gor Mahia remains a cut above fellow community clubs AFC Leopards and Shabana FC.

Speaking on The Exit Show, the well-traveled forward who had a stint with Gor Mahia in 2016, praised the club's high standards and relentless pursuit of results, contrasting it with the perceived lack of structure and ambition at its rivals.

“Gor Mahia fans always want results. Whatever happens, they want results. If you can’t give them that, leave—there’s always another player who can,” said Agwanda.

“That’s the mentality at Gor Mahia. We are yet to see a team at that level in Kenya, even among the three community clubs.”

While Agwanda has never played for AFC Leopards, he said his 15-year experience in Kenyan football has shown him enough to recognize the gulf in quality between Leopards and Gor Mahia.

“I have not played for AFC but I have watched them long enough. Gor’s level is still above. I’ve been at Shabana and I can say the same,” he added.

Agwanda also opened up about the tough conditions he endured during his time at Gusii- based Shabana FC, revealing that the experience pushed him to the brink of retirement.

“Shabana made me quit football. Maybe other players were fine with it, but personally, I couldn’t take it. The conditions were unbearable,” he said, citing issues that extended beyond salary delays.

After leaving Gor Mahia, where he lifted the league title, Agwanda featured for Bandari and KCB, both of which he praised for their professionalism and structure.

His remarks come at a time when Gor Mahia are embroiled in three-way race for the title with Kenya Police and Tusker.

Placing third on the log with 43 points, Gor Mahia trail Tusker in second with 47 points and leaders Kenya Police with 48 ponts.
