Boniface’s No Show Against Berlin
The Nigerian superstar has been in fine form for the Bundesliga leaders but endured a difficult time against Union Berlin.
After winning a third consecutive Rookie of the Month award, the 22-year-old was the centre of attention when Berlin visited the BayArena.
However, it turned out to be a rather quiet outing for the Leverkusen contributor-in-chief despite a convincing and dominant display from his Die Werkself.
There were four different scorers on the day for Leverkusen, including Boniface’s compatriot at the club, Nathan Tella, who came off the bench to score a fantastic goal, his first for the club following his summer move.
Boniface fingers village people
After the game, the Nigerian international took to his social media page to react to his latest outing.
In his characteristic way, the former Union Saint-Gilloise star had a funny thing to say about his performance against Berlin.
“My village people una try ooo,” the Super Eagles man posted on his X.com account after the encounter.
In terms of his overall performance in the game, Boniface was on the pitch for 87 minutes but only managed just one shot on target.
He created one chance and made one key pass but was denied his sixth assist of the season by Jeremy Frimpong, who failed to make the big chance count.
Boniface also had an off day with his dribbling after he completed just two of five attempts.
He has scored seven goals and assisted five more in just 11 matches in his debut campaign in the Bundesliga.
