The 31-year-old central midfielder Victor Omune's future at AFC Leopards is uncertain after a challenging season and injury setbacks.

AFC Leopards midfielder Victor Omune has sparked a flurry of speculation regarding his future with the FKF Premier League club.

The 31-year-old player had a rollercoaster season and has remained tight-lipped about whether he will continue donning the 'Ingwe' colors in the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Omune's uncertainty comes after a challenging season where he struggled to secure a guaranteed spot in the starting lineup.

"That one I can’t confirm anything for now. Only God knows what is at stake tomorrow and therefore nobody knows what tomorrow holds," stated Omune in an interview with Citizen Digital.

Despite his reservations about the future, Omune reflected positively on his performances when fully fit.

"If I will be playing outside Kenya, inside Kenya or AFC Leopards, I can’t assure you of anything. I think the time I am fit, people have seen what I am capable of doing on the pitch, and therefore the important thing maybe is to pray to God that I remain fully fit and injury-free next season," he added.

Omune scored a total of nine goals for the premier league heavyweights; eight in the league and one in the FKF Cup.

His contributions came despite missing several matches and frequently being used as a substitute.

"I didn’t start the season as a starter. Even before the injury, I was a substitute player. But maybe when I returned, it took time for me to regain match-fitness. All in all, the most important aspect here is the team’s performance and results," averred the soft-spoken forward.

His lack of consistent game time has been attributed to injuries and a complex relationship with head coach Tomas Trucha.

Omune's return to form was gradual, and he admits it affected his ability to make an immediate impact.

"The season has not been bad but tough. We fought hard and managed to finish in position five climbing all the way from the relegation spot," he said.

Omune started his career at MYSA from the U-10 to the under-16 categories before he progressed through various local teams including BIG Bebs and Kariobangi Youth.

His professional career includes stints with Kariobangi Sharks, Mahakama FC, and a previous spell with AFC Leopards in 2015-2016.

His time at Muhoroni Youth FC was marked by winning the KPL Top 8 tournament, and he later played for Nairobi Stima and KCB FC before returning to AFC Leopards in 2021.

Omune's roots in Nairobi where he attended Babadogo Primary School and Blessed Teresa High School in Lucky Summer, have played a significant role in his development.

His early days in football with MYSA and local teams laid a strong foundation for his professional career.
