Victor Osimhen: African Player of the Year reacts to first UCL goal for Napoli

Victor Osimhen returned from his historic CAFAwards2023 victory to help Napoli finish on a high in the UEFA Champions League.

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen has reacted to what has been an excellent 24 hours after Napoli ended the group stages of the UCL on a high against Braga. 

Osimhen celebrated his historic night at the CAFAwards2023 as he was crowned Africa’s Player of the Year with a goal in a 2-0 win on Tuesday night.  

Osimhen shines in UCL

Bearly 24 hours after he was named the 2023 African Player of the Year, Osimhen took centre stage again but this time for SSC Napoli in the UCL.

The 24-year-old proved to be a handful as he scored in Napoli’s routine win to finish the group stage with a win.

Osimhen netted the second goal of the night after a Serdar Saatci own goal handed the Italian champions an early lead. The goal was his first of the season in the popular competition.

With the goal, the celebration continued for the former Lille man whose performance for the Italians played a major role in his emergence as Africa’s new king.

Nigerian forward reacts

Following the performance against the Portuguese star, Osimhen, who lasted for 69 minutes in the game, has finally reacted.

The forward took to his social media to react with a short message on his Twitter account.

“Next Round,” he posted on his X.com. 

Osimhen’s goal in the Champions League, his first of the campaign, not only helped Napoli cement a place in the next round in style but also affirmed his status as the main man for the Serie A champions.
