Victor Osimhen has been called out by an Italian newspaper following Napoli's embarrassing defeat to Frosinone.

Super Eagles of Nigeria hitman Victor Osimhen has come under fire after Frosinone made light walk of Napoli in their Coppa Italia clash.

Italian media house Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia) labelled the Nigerian ‘useless’, and fellow teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was also not spared.

After beating Cagliari in a league match, Napoli faced Frosinone in a Coppa Italia clash but were stunned at the Diego Maradona Stadium.

Victor Osimhen did not start the match against Frosinone as Walter Mazzarri decided to rotate his squad and give game time to some fringe players.

Osimhen’s introduction fails to inspire Napoli

Osimhen eventually came on as a substitute in the second half when the game was still tied at 0-0. Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was also introduced, but both players were helpless as Frosinone ran riots.

Frosinone found the back of the net four times in the last 25 minutes of the game, courtesy of goals from Barrenechea, Giuseppe Caso, Walid Cheddira, and Abdou Harrouito.

Osimhen and  Kvaratskhelia were rated 5/10 by the Italian publication, which believed that the introduction of the Nigerian star and his Georgian counterpart did nothing to affect the outcome of the game in Napoli’s favour.

Meanwhile, Osimhen was the star of the show when Napoli defeated Cagliari in their last Serie A game, scoring one and providing an extraordinary assist for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Napoli will be back in action on December 23 when they travel to Rome to face Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
