Victor Osimhen: Super Eagles striker's market value drops as clubs refuse to pay
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen remains linked with a move away from Serie A but will any of Europe's top clubs deem the Nigerian worthy of a hefty price tag?

The Nigeria international signed a new contract in December 2023, including a €120million release clause (around £100 million).
However, clubs have baulked at that asking price. Arsenal were linked with Benjamin Sesko before the Slovenia international signed a new deal with RB Leipzig and were reportedly keen on Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, a player Manchester United are now interested in.
Chelsea, previously rumoured to be the most interested party, have undoubtedly set their sights on cheaper alternatives, underlined by the West London club's interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, Atletico Madrid’s Samuel Omorodion (on loan at Alaves in 2023-24) and recently discussing with Lille for Jonathan David.
Napoli reportedly set to reduce Osimhen’s asking price
Given the absence of offers, Italian reports suggest that Napoli will lessen their release clause stance on the Nigerian, with Calciomercato stating the Partenopei could accept offers circa €100million (around £85 million).
Antonio Conte is seemingly keen to bring in Romelu Lukaku as his replacement, with the pair interested in being reunited after working together at Inter for two seasons before the manager's resignation after claiming the 2020-21 Scudetto.
What comes next?
It remains to be seen if Osimhen gets his wish to leave Napoli this summer after four years in Naples. However, this reported reduction in asking price could tempt interested clubs to look the striker’s way after hitherto ignoring making overtures for the 25-year-old.
