Osimhen’s wish to depart Napoli is public knowledge, with the forward keen to make a dream Premier League move.
However, clubs have opted for other options, with Chelsea linked with Jhon Duran, Samu Omorodion and recently Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, Arsenal preferring Benjamin Sesko before the RB Leipzig frontman extended his deal with the Bundesliga club before reportedly switching to Joshua Zirkzee but the former Bologna man has since completed a move to Manchester United.
A stumbling block to a Napoli departure seems to be Osimhen’s astronomical release clause, believed to be around €120million release clause (circa £100 million) after the striker signed a new contract in December 2023.
While recent reports suggested that the Partenopei are willing to accept offers below the frontman’s release clause, that has not led to any interested clubs coming forward. Still, PSG may have found a way to make room for the 25-year-old.
PSG’s plan for Osimhen
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG will make a move for Osimhen only if they sell one forward, with Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos at risk of being let go by the Parisians despite arriving in the summer of 2023.
Furthermore, the transfer expert reiterated that Romelu Lukaku is Antonio Conte’s preferred replacement if the Nigerian departs in this summer window.
What comes next?
Osimhen will remain at Napoli for the 2024-25 season if he does not get his transfer wish. According to reports from Italy, the Nigeria international is back in pre-season training with the Partenopei but has trained separately due to muscle fatigue.
