Since joining Montreal as a free agent in March 2020 after an illustrious stint with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur Wanyama has evolved into a cornerstone of the team.

His versatility on the field has seen him play multiple roles, adapting to the tactical demands of MLS with remarkable finesse.

Over his 100 games Wanyama has netted five goals and has become the highest-paid player at the club.

The first half saw Real Salt Lake's goalkeeper Zac MacMath making a crucial save in the 17th minute to deny Dominik Yankov from close range, keeping the scoreline even.

Montreal goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois mirrored his counterpart's heroics by making several key saves.

In the 24th minute, Sirois impressively thwarted Anderson Julio and then blocked Chico Arango's follow-up shot, maintaining the stalemate.

His agility was on full display as he continued to deny Real Salt Lake’s attempts, including a critical intervention in the 70th minute against Arango and a post-hit from Diego Luna.

Amid the defensive showcase the game also highlighted the return of several Montreal players from injuries.

Lassi Lappalainen, Matias Coccaro, and Kwadwo Opoku each had opportunities to tilt the game in Montreal’s favor in the latter stages, but their attempts narrowly missed the target.
