The former Harambee Stars captain reflected on the tragic incident as the nation grieves.
Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic road accident at Londiani Junction along the Nakuru-Kericho highway.
The horrific incident involved a truck that lost control while traveling from Nakuru towards Kericho and collided with multiple matatus, private vehicles, and motorcycles before coming to a rest in a ditch, leaving over 50 people dead.
In response to the tragic news, the CF Montreal Impact defensive midfielder took to his Facebook page to share his condolences and offer words of comfort.
"My heartfelt condolences go to the families affected by the Londiani accident. May the souls of the departed Rest In Peace. When peace is like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll, Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul," the former Tottenham Hotspurs player posted.
In addition to Wanyama, Sports and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba also extended his condolences to the families affected by the accident.
"Darkness. Heart-rending. Eternal rest grant unto our countrymen and women O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen," he wrote.
As the nation mourns the loss of these innocent lives, it is crucial to reflect on the importance of road safety and the need for enhanced measures to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
