Victor Wanyama was an unused substitute as CF Montreal suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Inter Miami that was led by Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez on Sunday morning.
Montreal took a deserved lead in what was an entertaining game when Bryce Duke slotted the ball in between the legs of the Inter Miami goalkeeper following a swift counter attacking move in the 22nd minute.
Ten minutes later, Jules-Anthony Vilsaint sent the home crowd into ruptures as he scored Montreal’s second to leave Messi and Co with work to do.

Victor Wanyama’s CF Montreal future in doubt as Sporting Director quits after fallout with club owner
Victor Wanyama could be playing his last season at CF Montreal following the departure of the Sporting Director who was instrumental to his arrival and stay at the MLS club.
This happened after Messi had sent fears in his camp when he went down for a couple of minutes following a tough challenge and needed medical attention before continuing to play. As he waited to resume, his side had already gone two goals down and needed some inspiration from him.
However, it was new signing Matias Rojas who showed Messi qualities when he hammered home a freekick on his left foot that will leave the Argentina legend proud, bringing the scores to 2-1 in the 44th minute.
The scores were level four minutes later when Suarez scored from a corner before Benjamin Cremaschi completed the comeback for Inter Miami in the 59th minute.

Victor Wanyama gets first start of the season as CF Montreal share spoils in cup tie
Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama got a rare start at his club as he made the starting X1 in CF Montreal’s Canadian Cup quarter-final first leg match on Tuesday.

Wanyama, who started his first game of the season during the Canadian Cup quarter-final first leg draw against Forge on Tuesday, could not get an extended stay in the side as coach Laurent Courtois reverted to his preferred midfield two of Samuel Piette and Mathieu Choiniere.
