Jurrien Timber announced his return to action with a wonder strike that has sent Arsenal fans agog on social media.
The 22-year-old Dutchman had been sidelined for almost nine months after suffering a season-ending ACL injury last August.
Timber's return was met with rapturous by the Arsenal faithful and he slotted seamlessly back into action as represented the under 21 side in a league game against Blackburn Rovers.
Timber with a screamer on his return
Nine minutes into his return, Timber received the ball at the edge of the penalty area. After a deft touch to control the pass, he unleashed a thunderous right-footed curler that arrowed into the top corner, leaving the opposition goalkeeper with no chance.
The defender looked levels above everyone on the pitch, getting into good positions, dictating the flow of the game and attempting more shots before his substitution at half-time.
Arsenal fans react to Timber’s goal and return
Fans of the North London club went agog on social media, celebrating not just the goal, but Timber's remarkable return from injury.
Arsenal will host London rivals Chelsea in a must-win league on Tuesday night, but this game will come too soon for the Dutch man. With 45 minutes now in the tank for the defender, he could return to the matchday squad for the Gunners by the start of next month.
