The retired defender points out why the Spurs’ captain is not an ideal target for the Red Devils.
Nemanja Vidic is not convinced that Harry Kane is a suitable striker for Manchester United.
United have been massively linked with a move for the striker, and reports indicate that the Red Devils have already taken the first steps to bring him to Old Trafford.
Kane has one year remaining on his contract, but Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to let him go without a fight.
"If you ask me honestly, it’s not just a striker," Vidic said, as quoted by Metro. "I think definitely the players who win the title are the players playing in the middle, the striker, the midfielder, and two central defenders.
"Everything else, you can do it. This is the heart of the team. I think we can still strengthen that. I think the striker is the toughest question you can ask me. I don’t know."

TRANSFERS Manchester United make first move to sign Harry Kane
The Red Devils are expected to sign a high-calibre centre-forward in the summer.
In his discussion, the former Serbia international explained why he feels Kane is not a suitable option.
"I will not buy the striker if I am not sure, 100 percent," he added. "For how much money? How old is he?
"He is a top striker for the last 10 years, and he will score the goals, but I will definitely go for other options. Whatever are other options are, I will go for other options.
"There is a way to have a striker for many years. The club has to think for many years, have to find players who are 23, 24, they are going to stay there for seven years. Especially, in that heart of the team."
Vidic also believes another priority signing should be a centre-back. Harry Maguire has failed to impress when trusted with starting positions, Victor Lindelof has fallen down the pecking order; and currently, Raphael Varane and Lisandro Mertinez are injured.

FOOTBALL Ten Hag reveals the type of striker he wants at Manchester United
The Red Devils have already been linked with a number of top-level centre-forwards.
"And I think you cannot say that fast, you have to do diligence, you have to understand what you need, and this is a time now where the club has to think about it, and definitely, I think it is a defender they should look at as well," he continued.
"Because I see we have injured defenders. So, I definitely think we need someone who is actually young, to challenge those two."
