Brazilian Beto Bianchi says Vipers SC have studied and have devised a plan how to beat AC Horoya, as he looks to secure his first victory at the club.

Vipers hosts Guinean giants Horoya in group C of the CAF Champions League at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, seeking to make an impact in their first group game at home in the competition.

The Venoms are looking to make amends for their underwhelming 5-0 defeat to Raja Casablanca in their first group game.

But they face a Horoya side beaming with confidence who got their Champions League campaign to a strong start with a 1-0 victory over Tanzania’s Simba SC.

“We have analyzed them (Horoya), we have looked at their game approach and worked out how we can stop them,” Bianchi explained during his pre-match press conference.

“We have a plan, and have explained to the team what we want to achieve with it, in relation to what happened during the Raja Casablanca match.”

“We want to avoid the same situation that we suffered at the start of that match. We have a strategy on how to deal with their strengths but also exploit their weaknesses,” he added.

The St. Mary’s Stadium encounter will be the first ever meeting between the two sides in history, and carries significant advantage for either in their quest for reaching the quarter finals.

While Vipers chase victory to replenish hope of progress from the group, victory for Horoya on the other hand provides them a chance to build on their strong start that saw them defeat Tanzania’s Simba SC.

Bianchi will be taking charge of only his fourth game at Vipers, however, Vipers are yet to find the back of the net over 270 minutes of play.

A goalless draw against third division side Jinja North – before Vipers progressed via penalties – in the Uganda Cup on Wednesday was the third successive game without a goal for the Venoms under the Brazilian.

To put their current struggles in front of goal into context, Vipers has scored only twice in their last six games in all competitions, three of those games have been under Bianchi’s watch.

Apart from Abdul Lumala who limped off with an injury during the game against Raja, Bianchi has his entire squad available for selection on Saturday.
