The Venoms will, however, have a chance to make an instant turnaround when they host Gaddafi FC at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende, on Tuesday.
Vipers SC squandered a chance to get within touching distance of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table leadership after a 1-0 defeat to leaders SC Villa on Saturday.
The Venoms will, however, have a chance to make an instant turnaround when they host Gaddafi FC at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende, on Tuesday.
And team captain Milton Karisa wants the entire team to make a resounding response under the floodlights.
"A successful season is how we respond to disappointment," started Karisa while speaking to the club media.
"We have to respond quickly because we have tricky fixtures ahead of us," he added.
A positive result is a must for Alex Isabirye's charges, as they have rivals and second-placed KCCA FC waiting on Friday before visiting the tricky Soltilo Bright Stars four days later.
Before the Saturday slip, Vipers had registered three victories in five games, including two stalemates, a relatively decent show considering how they started the year.
"We had a solid run before Saturday, so we just want to continue that. We need to respond strongly and immediately. Tomorrow gives us a chance, and we are hopeful."
Victory for the Venoms will take them to 42 points in third and back into the title hunt, as they have played three games fewer than Villa, who have 46 points.
It will not be a walk in the park for the Vipers, though, as they lost the reverse fixture in the first round 1-0, thanks to Alex Kitata's first-half strike.
