Talks between the defender and Vipers president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa have reportedly taken place on multiple occasions, with the player seemingly persuaded to join the Venoms.

It does not seem to be a proper transfer window in Uganda without a bidding war between Vipers SC and rivals KCCA FC for a player from either camp.

Latest emerging reports indicate that Vipers SC appears to be at the forefront of the race to secure the signature of former KCCA FC left-back Mustapha Kizza, according to sources.

Kizza, who is currently a free agent, bid farewell to his boyhood club, KCCA FC, in June, following the conclusion of his short-term six-month contract, which he had initially signed with the club in January.

According to information gathered by Pulse Sports, Vipers have made a concerted effort to bring Kizza into their fold.

Talks between the defender and Vipers president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa have reportedly taken place on multiple occasions, with the player seemingly persuaded to join the Venoms.

He is not the only former KCCA FC player that Vipers have their eyes on, with Allan Okello also rumoured to be on the radar at St. Mary's Stadium, Kitende, following his exit from Algerian club Paradou FC.

It is not the first time that Vipers have chased Kizza. In 2020, Vipers reportedly wanted to sign the left back, offering a reported UGX 100 million for his move.

Vipers then coach Fred Kajoba admitted to fancying working with the player, before Kizza ultimately turned down the offer to stay at Lugogo.

For now, Vipers might be ready to pounce especially weighing the potential offers available including URA FC, and a potential return to Europe.

Sources also indicate that SC Villa has been lurking in the background for the player, but the two seem to have failed to agree on a deal based on the length of the contract.

Kizza's departure from KCCA FC marked the end of his second stint at the club.

Unlike his initial tenure, where he achieved significant success, his return was marred by injuries and fitness issues that hindered his performance.

Before rejoining KCCA, Kizza plied his trade with Portuguese side Arouca FC, departing in December of the previous year.

Prior to that, he had a spell with MLS team Montreal Impact, joining them in 2020 after departing from KCCA FC.

As a product of KCCA's academy, Kizza had previously achieved remarkable success with the club, including guiding them to the CAF Champions League group stages under the leadership of then-head coach Mike Mutebi.

However, Kizza's homecoming with KCCA in January on a six-month deal was fraught with injuries that limited his time on the pitch.

The 23-year-old wing-back made just six appearances due to persistent injury setbacks.
