In a bid to add valuable quality to their ranks, Vipers SC are closing on a deal to net down left-back Shafik Batambuze.
According to Swift Sports, the Uganda Premier League champions are only moments away from securing their man, who has been plying his trade in Tanzania.
For the past one and a half seasons, Batambuze has been at Tanzania Premier League side Singida Big Stars.
He guided them to a fourth place finish in the previous campaign having amassed 55 points. It was their maiden season in the top-flight.
The impressive finish in the league helped them to their first ever CAF Confederation Cup.
Batambuze joins in as a direct replacement for Disan Galiwango, who departed the club at the end of the season.
Should he seal the deal, he will vie for a starting berth in the team with last season's first choice left-back, Isa Mubiru.
The domestic double winners are lining up a stout team that will compete huge in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League.
Batambuze joins in with valuable experience at the top level, having played for Simba FC and record holders SC Villa in Uganda.
He has also featured for Kenya's Western Stima, Muhoroni Youth, Gor Mahia, Tusker FC and Sofapaka, as well as Zambia's Kabwe Warriors.
