Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have confirmed a long-term injury to goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza.

The Venoms have revealed that the Congolese native will be out of action with a broken finger, for the next three months.

"Goalkeeper Alfred Mudekereza has undergone a detection and immobilization of his fractured left small finger sustained last season and will be out for three months."

The goal-minder sustained the injury last season and missed the final stages as the Venoms clinched both the league and Uganda Cup titles.

He returned this season on short notice and played once, before missing out from the last five match-day squads in all competitions.

In his absence, Vipers are still stacked in quality and depth, with stars Fabien Mutombora, Denis Kiggundu, and Jack Komakech all available.

Komakech has started in each of the club's Uganda Premier League matches this season, conceding just once and keeping two clean sheets.

Vipers take on league record holders (16) SC Villa at the St. Mary's Stadium, Kitende in their next match on October 20.
