Vipers SC will be uncompromising in their pursuit of victory against a much improved UPDF FC in the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday at the Bombo Military Grounds.
It'll not be a picnic for the Venoms as the Army side have not lost a game in their previous four, winning three times and drawing just once, including an impressive 1-1 against KCCA FC last time out.
"It's going to be a tough game, but we're in a good place; we want to go there and be tough to beat," cautiously optimistic, Vipers' head coach Alex Isabirye noted to the club media on Tuesday.
Following dismal results, the Kitende side have picked two victories on the bounce; 2-0 over Blacks Power FC in the league and 4-1 against Calvary FC in the Uganda Cup.
"We've got another opportunity to go away and try and build on our recent performances and try to get an away win. If we do, we'll creep closer to where we want to be."
The Venoms occupy third on the log with 32 points in just 17 games. They are 11 points adrift of table leaders SC Villa, who have played four games more.
Isabirye missed over ten first-team players against Calvary but is now welcoming back a number of them at a time when he needs them the most.
"We're getting players back from injury, the likes of Marvin Joseph Youngman, Miguel Lutumba, Siraje Ssentamu and Karim Watambala, and they will be important towards achieving our goals."
Vipers were comfortable 4-0 winners in the reverse fixture in the first round, thanks to a Yunus Sentamu hat-trick and a Rogers Adriko own-goal.
The past 11 UPL meetings between the two dating back to 2015, have not seen the Venoms lose a game, with seven wins and four stalemates.
