Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk has opened up about his future with Liverpool amidst contract renewal talks.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has provided an update on his future at the club, stating he is prepared to let his contract run down to its expiry in the summer.

Despite the unresolved situation, the 33-year-old has shown no signs of distraction, delivering one of his best campaigns yet.

As Liverpool sit atop the Premier League table with 70 points, 15 points clear of second-placed Arsenal, Van Dijk remains focused on leading his side to their first league title under Arne Slot.

He is also eyeing another trophy as Liverpool prepare to defend their Carabao Cup title against Newcastle at Wembley.

His leadership and performances have been pivotal in keeping the team on track for success, even amid speculation about his future.

When asked about his contract situation by Sky Sports, Van Dijk acknowledged the ongoing uncertainty but assured fans that his focus remains on the club’s success.

"Maybe I will run this fully down, and then there is still no news. I don’t know," he said.

"But I don’t want to create any anxiety or anything like that. I just keep my head down and focus on hopefully winning the next 10 games."

The Dutchman emphasized that he is not worried about his contract status and remains committed to Liverpool.

"If I was worried, you would see me playing a little bit worried, and that is not the case," he added.

"I am fully committed to Liverpool Football Club at the moment, and there is no doubt about that."

Liverpool coach Arne Slot has made it clear that he wants Van Dijk to remain at Liverpool beyond the summer. However, the Dutch manager admitted he has no control over contract negotiations.

"The only thing I know is that I want Virgil to be here next season. But all the rest, his talks about contracts, that’s not what I do over here," Slot said.

Van Dijk, however, remains uncertain about what the future holds.

"I have no idea. I still have no idea at the moment," he admitted.

"It is not on hold. Nothing is on hold. There are just… some conversations behind the scenes, but that is about it."

Alongside Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Alexander-Arnold also face uncertain futures, with all three contracts set to expire at the end of the season.

Liverpool fans will be eagerly awaiting developments as the club navigates this crucial period.
