Simba will rue wastefulness and missed chances, as they created a mammoth but to cross their opponents' goal-line.

Despite having the lion's share in terms of possession (63%), Simba couldn't find their way past Al Ahly.

Simba also bossed the number of shots, as they managed 16 (seven on target) to Al Ahly's four (two on target), yet they still couldn't beat goalkeeper Mostafa Ahmed Shobeir.

With the result, the East African kingpins have dug themselves a deep pit as they wi have to turn it around in Cairo, Egypt on April 5.

Meanwhile, fellow Tanzanians Young Africans SC will battle Mamelodi Sundowns in the other quarterfinal on Saturday.

DR Congo's TP Mazembe will host Angola's Petro de Luanda on Saturday, while Tunisia's Es Tunis will be home to Ivory Coast's Asec Mimosas on Sunday.
