While Kate Abdo seemed aware of the plan to have the president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF in the building, Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher were none the wiser until the 49-year-old emerged behind a delighted Richards, who complimented the former midfielder’s scent.
Beckham joined the quartet in the studio to analyse the matches on the competition’s opening night, with Real Madrid’s match with Stuttgart and Liverpool’s trip to AC Milan the pick of Tuesday’s games.
The former England international won the competition in the 1998-99 season with Manchester United, who clinched a historic treble after a late turnaround against Bayern Munich.
