Chelsea's starlet Casadei showed glimpses of his immense talent against Brazil at the U20 World Cup and will face the Flying Eagles of Nigeria next
Chelsea’s season might be the worst in recent history, but one positive that the Blues have had is the unearthing of possible future gems, with Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei the next in line.
Chelsea youngster dazzles at U20 World Cup
The former Inter midfielder joined Chelsea in the summer in a deal that could be worth up to €20 million and has impressed occasionally while on loan at Championship side Reading.
The 20-year-old is highly rated in Chelsea circles and is expected to have a bright future at the club when he returns to the first team.
Currently, with the Italian national team at the U20 World Cup in Argentina, Casadei has shown glimpses of how special a player he could be for the Blues after turning in a man-of-the-match performance in the opening game against Brazil.
Casadei brilliance against Brazil
Casadei scored twice and assisted the third goal as Italy earned a 3-2 win over Brazil, and the midfielder even managed to pull off a sublime piece of skill to earn his side a penalty, which he duly converted.
Receiving the ball on the edge of the area, Casadei shimmied and shifted, leaving his marker in a daze before getting fouled to win the penalty for Italy.
With Casadei also set to play Nigeria’s Flying Eagles in the next round of fixtures at the World Cup, Nigerian Chelsea fans could get a closer look at one of their club’s prized assets.
