He is a sworn Simba fan and even goes by the nickname Simba, but Tanzanian pop star Diamond Platnumz always appreciates the effort.
The award-winning musician was on Monday morning on hand to deliver his promise to the Malian goalkeeper at his Wasafi media house offices in Dar-es-Salaam.
Flanked by Young Africans president Hersi Said, Diamond was pictured handing over the cash to Diarra and appreciating him for his efforts as Young Africans reached their first-ever final in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Nabi Nasreddine’s charges lost the two-legged final on away goals rule despite winning in Algiers 1-0 courtesy of a Shabani Djuma penalty.
Hersi Said also, while appearing on Wasafi FM’s breakfast show, assured the Young Africans faithful that the team is ready to defend the domestic cup when they face Azam FC in Tanga.
“We reached the final of the CAF Confederation Cup; why wouldn’t we win the federation cup? Of course, we shall, and after, we’re going to do a trophy parade like never before.”
Asked about the future of head coach Nabi Nasreddine, Hersi insisted that the Tunisian tactician was still part of the club’s plans.
“Nabi is still a part of the club’s plans, that I can assure everyone.”
‘Tiimu ya Wanainchi’ have now shifted their attention to the Azam Sports Federation Cup final against Azam, set to take place on 12th June in Tanga.
