Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is a doubt for Napoli's Serie A opener after suffering an ankle injury
Napoli’s plans for the 2023/24 season have suffered an early blow after star forward Victor sustained an injury in training just days before the start of the season.
Osimhen suffers training injury
Osimhen finished as the Partenopei’s top scorer in the hugely successful 2022/23 campaign, which saw him score 31 goals in all competitions as Napoli clinched their first Scudetto title in 33 years.

The Nigerian is close to signing a new deal at Napoli that will see him remain at the club until 2027, as the club counts on him as a crucial part of the team.
However, they are going to have to do without him for the opening of the new season after the forward picked up an injury during training this week.
Napoli hoping for speedy Osimhen recovery
A video of Osimhen grimacing while clutching his ankle surfaced online and reports of his injury have been corroborated by the Italian paper Coriello Dello Sport, which says the 24-year-old forward left the training session early with an ice pack strapped to the affected ankle.
There is some good news, as the injury is believed to be a mild sprain of the ankle, which should not keep the Super Eagles forward out of action for too long.
With Serie A resuming 11 days from today, Napoli will be hoping that Osimhen will be fit in time for action when they open their title defence against promoted Frosinone
