New Galatasaray player Victor Oshimen doubled the Super Eagles' lead against the Cheeters of Benin Republic in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Super Eagles began their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a home match against Benin, looking for revenge after their 2-1 loss to the same team in June.

Oshimen doubles Nigeria's lead

The current African Player of the Year had only six minutes to record his name on the scoresheet as he doubled the lead after being introduced in the 72nd minute.

Wilfred Ndidi provided Osimhen with the assist, and the 25-year-old former Lille man scored with an unbelievable acrobatic finish to bag his 22nd goal for the Super Eagles.

Recall that Ballon d’Or nominee Ademola Lookman marked his new feat with a lovely solo goal to put Nigeria ahead against Benin.

Despite dominating the first half, Nigeria struggled to create clear chances. As the half neared its end and the impatient home crowd grew restless, Lookman decided to take charge.

Riding high from his Ballon d’Or nomination, the Atalanta forward showcased his confidence with a remarkable goal.

After receiving the ball near the Benin box, Lookman skillfully dribbled past three defenders and evaded a fourth before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
