The Muhoroni-based side have explained where they will be shopping for new talent as they seek to avoid the struggles of last season
Wazito FC, who are soon changing their identity to Muhoroni Youth, are targeting up to 10 new players after setting an ambitious target of a top five finish in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League next season.
The club survived relegation by the skin of their teeth when they had to go past a tricky two-legged promotion-relegation playoff with Migori Youth, which they won 3-0 on aggregate, following a 16th-place finish in the 18-team top flight.
However, their struggles of last season have not prevented them from dreaming big and they believe they learnt harsh lessons in 2022-23 which they are keen to avoid.
“As Muhoroni, we are not joking this time around, we are going for a top five finish and the FKF Cup,” club CEO Collince Dave told Pulse Sports.
“We have retained most of the players whom we had last season because we did some good recruitment during the midseason transfer window which helped us record impressive performances in the second leg to secure our survival.”
To achieve their ambitions, Wazito feel they will need to avoid a slow start as witnessed last season, when they only won two out of their 26 matches between December 2022 and April this year, before five wins in their final nine games saw them secure the playoff place.

FOOTBALL Wazito FC explain the reason behind renaming the club to Muhoroni Youth
The Muhoroni-based outfit have revealed the difficulties they have been facing under the Wazito identity, necessitating the name change
“We have only lost one player (captain Robert Onyango) who has gone to Bandari. We started our good run very late last season and we want to avoid that,” he added.
“We are targeting between seven and 10 new players and we have already identified three from National Super League teams and four from Division One sides. We are not really looking at Premier League players because at Muhoroni, our other duty is to nurture talent.”
