Quest for the final FKF Premier League slot as Wazito, Migori Youth face off in in do-or-die playoff clash
Wazito will begin their quest for a fifth straight season in the top flight when they travel to Migori to face a Migori Youth in the FKF Premier League promotion playoff on Saturday.
Wazito finished 16th in the 2022-23 FKFPL season on 29 points, three ahead of Mathare United whose long run at the top was finally brought to an end as they finished 17th.
Under head coach Charles Odera, they went on a 20-game run without a win, before a victory over Ulinzi Stars in April set the tone for an impressive run of form of six games without defeat in their last nine.
Odera insisted that they would take it one game at a time after the win over Ulinzi Stars, and it is a mentality that bore fruit.

Only Migori United stand in the way of Wazito securing a place in next season's FKF Premier League
“Every game was like a final to us. The boys had to give their best in order to be able to win. Winning that game (against Tusker) gave them a lot of fighting spirit and morale as they showed they could beat anyone, and it enabled them to believe they could win,” Odera said.
They will have their work cut out against a Migori side that finished third in the second tier National Super League, finishing third on 62 points and losing just one of their last five games, momentum that they will want to carry on against Wazito.
