Kylian Mbappe speaks on the defeat to Bayern Munich, and Kingsley Coman explains why he did not celebrate his goal in the game.
Kylian Mbappe who was a second-half substitute in PSG's defeat to Bayern Munich has suggested that his team deserved more from the game, as he believes they made Bayern uncomfortable when they attacked.
Bayern Munich took a 1-0 advantage at the Parc Des Princes in the Champions League round of 16 tie against PSG on Tuesday night.
Advantage Bayern Munich
Former PSG player Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute of the game after connecting to a cross from Alphonso Davies to beat Gianluigi Donarumma.
However, PSG found the back of the net on two occasions in the second-half, both attempts were from Kylian Mbappe, and both were ruled out for offside. The Frenchman started on the bench as he was recovering from a thigh injury, and his inclusion brought more verve into PSG's attack.
Mbappe believes his team made Bayern uncomfotable later in the game, and they would be heading to Munich with only qualification on their mind.
“We have to look at the end of the game, we were disadvantaged but we managed to cause them issues. We’re going over there [Munich] to qualify, Mbappe said to Canal+ after the game, per GFFN.
"We worked day and night. Our players have to be in good health for the return leg, everyone needs to eat and sleep well. They’re not comfortable when we play attacking football.”
'I didn't want to celebrate here in front of the fans' - Kingsley Coman
Bayern Munich's scorer on the night Kingsley Coman did not celebrate after scoring the only goal of the game, putting his hands up in respect of the home fans.
Coman was formerly of PSG's academy, and he explains that he did not celebrate because PSG is the club he grew in, and he did not want to celebrate scoring against PSG at the Parc Des Princes in front of their fans.
“Scoring at the Parc des Princes is a childhood dream. It was a special moment. It's the club where I grew up, the city where I was born,” he told Canal+, per Fabrizio Romano.
“I didn't want to celebrate here in front of the fans.”
Bayern Munich host PSG in the second leg at the Allianz Arena on March 8th.
