Ex-Super Eagles star Victor Anichebe has responded to Victor Osimhen's comment on Finidi George after sustaining an injury before the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.

Osimhen was not available for the Super Eagles qualifying games against South Africa and Benin Republic due to injury.

It was later reported that Finidi had gone about stating that he would not beg anyone to play for the Super Eagles.

Osimhen then went on to rant during a 10-minute Instagram Live video about Finidi George, which has gotten a lot of media attention.

Anichebe said on Instagram, “This is something we really lack in Nigeria. We just love negativity and drama. VO was wrong to come out publicly.

“I’m sure he understands this now, but in the heat of the moment, it’s difficult. This could’ve been done in private, even though I fully understand he doesn’t want anyone to tarnish his image and commitment that he has worked tirelessly to maintain.”

The ex-player also demanded that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) be dissolved and chastised the body for how it handled the Super Eagles' coaching position.

He continued, “That being said, the whole federation is a complete and utter mess, completely clueless, lacking foresight, no clue about football.

“What was their hiring process? Does anyone even know? Nepotism at its finest. How can results be achieved with a leaderless bunch at the helm? The whole organisation needs to be disbanded and started again.”
