Manchester United defeat 'noisy neighbours'

Manchester United started the game the better team, pinning Manchester City back with pressing and creating better chances in the first-half, but were unable to break the deadlock.

Manchester City got themselves back into the game, and Pep Guardiola's substitutions paid off as substitute Grealish latched on to a cross from Kevin de Bruyne to give City the lead.

Erik Ten Hag made a substitution of his own, bringing on Alejandro Garnacho for Eriksen. Garnacho would assist Marcus Rashford for Manchester United's winner in the 82nd minute, but only after Bruno Fernandes put them ahead in the 78th minute.

"It's always important to win a game. As the manager said it doesn’t matter who the opponents are. Amazing comeback," Bruno Fernandes told BT Sport.

"I said before the game we look like a team now. Some time ago sometimes each one of us was looking for ourselves. Now you see a proper team playing for each other."

'Manchester United get away with that,' - Chris Sutton

Manchester United's first goal of the game was controversial, as Marcus Rashford, for who Casemiro's pass was intended, was offside. However, he did not make contact with the ball before Bruno Fernandes struck it.

BBC pundit Chris Sutton believes Manchester United got away with that because the venue is Old Trafford.

Manchester United would now prepare for their next game in the league against Crystal Palace, before facing league leaders Arsenal.
