The football administrator wants tight security as the teams meet in the Ingo Derby at Nyayo Stadium

Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimaanyula has called for heightened security during their FKF Cup semi-final match against AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

The Premier Legaue sides are meeting to battle for one of the tickets to the final of the domestic cup, and Shimanyula has raised concerns around security.

"We know AFC fans are good at throwing stones, and we hope security will be provided to avoid them doing the same," Shimanyula said ahead of the match.

"We saw what they [AFC fans] did during our league fixture in Bukhungu Stadium, they attacked the referee with stones, and I believe FKF should have security officers checking each and every fan of the team accessing the match venue not to carry stones.

"They are fond of hiding stones in their pockets before accessing match venues, and we hope this will not be the case on Saturday."

The last match between Ingwe and Abana Abeingo was abandoned after chaos erupted at Bukhungu Stadium in April.

Consequently, AFC Leopards were ordered to play behind closed doors, but just before last Sunday’s Mashemeji Derby, Ingwe announced that they had ‘resolved issues’ with FKF.

"Please just come to the stadium and watch AFC being massacred. During the aborted match, we were to beat them 5-0, and on Saturday, we will floor them with even more than five goals," added Shimanyula.

Both Leopards and Homeboyz are out of contention for the league title, and the cup offers them an opportunity to at least win silverware this season. Thus, this match carries a lot of stakes, and tension is expected to be very high.
