Mudryk’s frustrating performance against Servette

Mudryk bore much of the brunt of fans' annoyance, especially in the first half. Despite starting the match promisingly, demonstrating his ability to beat defenders, the winger’s decision-making was reckless, leading to several wasted attacks.

In a short span, he lost possession multiple times due to hesitation, halting Chelsea's momentum and frustrating Maresca who made this clear through gestures and facial expressions.

Speaking after his first victory in charge of the club, Maresca pointed out why Mudryk has struggled in West London since his big-money €70 million (£62 million) transfer, potentially rising to €100 million (£89 million) in add-ons.

"We're going to try to help him to change,” said the Chelsea head coach about the winger. “He is going to try to understand that we are going to get him the ball in the last third.

“Most of the mistakes of Misha are not quality, they are about the decision making."
