Zaidu Sanusi could become the latest Nigerian star to play for West Ham, following in the footsteps of icons like Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Obinna Nsofor
Reigning UEFA Europa Conference League champions West Ham United could become the latest Premier League team to have a dash of Nigerian flavour as their pursuit of Porto full-back Zaidu Sanusi gains steam.
West Ham target Sanusi
The hammers are reportedly in the market for a new left-back, with the Super Eagles star on their shopping list.
According to TeamTALK, West Ham consider Sanusi an important addition to the team as an option in case Aaron Cresswell decides against staying at the club or in case of a potential loss of Chelsea loanee Emerson Palmieri.
The London club could be tempted to make a move for Sanusi in the January transfer window after reportedly being impressed by the Porto defender following several scouting trips.
Porto’s Sanusi on West Ham’s radar
Sanusi could become the latest Nigerian star to feature for the Hammers, following in the footsteps of Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Obinna Nsofor, who also played for West Ham in the 2015/16 and 2010/11 seasons respectively.
The Nigerian full-back has been at Porto since 2020 after joining the Portuguese giants from Santa Clara and has also represented the Super Eagles 15 times.
At 26 years old, Sanusi is entering the peak of his career and could become a key player in the West Ham set up as well as the Nigerian national team in the near future.
