The departure also confirms that all the top three clubs from last season will now have new coaches calling the shots when the new football season kicks off.

The drama series featuring Startimes Uganda Premier champions Vipers SC and head coach Alex Isabirye seems to have come to an end following the tactician’s resignation on Wednesday.

Isabirye had been summoned to appear before the club disciplinary committee but chose to throw in the towel instead.

Breach of contract was the reason the former BUL FC coach gave for his departure from the club he helped win its first-ever league and cup double last season.

Vipers are yet to come out with a statement regarding the development but continue with the preseason plans under assistant coach Raoul Lukusa Kayembe, whose appointment rubbed Isabirye the wrong way.

But what does Isabirye’s departure from St. Mary’s Kitende confirm?

First, it clears all doubts surrounding his position at the club. Parting ways looked inevitable the moment an assistant coach and players were brought in without Isabirye’s input.

The departure also confirms that all the top three clubs from last season will now have new coaches calling the shots when the new football season kicks off.

KCCA FC hired the services of Portuguese tactician Sergio Daniel Moniz Tragil to replace Jackson Mayanja, who was in interim charge following the resignation of Morley Byekwaso during the season.

Tragil will be assisted by Jackson Magera, who helped Villa put up a commendable title run before falling short on the final day of the season.

KCCA finished level on points with Vipers, but the Kitende side had a richer goal difference to walk away with the title.

Meanwhile, SC Villa also made changes to their coaching team, bringing in Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic and Morley Byekwaso to build on what Jackson Magera and Ibrahim Kirya had started last season.

With no head coach at the moment, it remains to be seen whom Vipers will turn to after Isabirye’s departure.
