It is reported that the club asked Isabirye, the man who helped them to a first-ever league and cup double, to take the assistant coach role.

One thing Vipers SC have managed to do amidst rumours of head coach Alex Isabirye's departure from the club is stay tight-lipped.

The movie involving the two parties seems to be just at its start, with Isabirye said to have confided in his close mates that his time at the club was up.

It is reported that the club asked Isabirye, the man who helped them to a first-ever league and cup double, to take the assistant coach role.

The former BUL FC tactician was named Coach of the Season at last week's Pilsner SUPL Awards, and his treatment by the club has left tongues wagging.

On Tuesday, a letter from the club summoning Isabirye for absconding from duty was seen by Pulse Sports, and that brought yet another twist to the script.

"You have consistently and without authority from your employer, absconded from your work and duties as the Head Coach since 05/07/2023 to date," the letter reads in part.

"So, be hereby informed that in line with the applicable labour laws, you are invited for a disciplinary hearing on Thursday 14th July 2023 at St. Mary's Stadium - Kitende Executive Lounge, 10:00 AM."

Vipers have already started their preseason under new assistant coach Raoul Lukusa Kayembe, who is now rumoured to be a candidate for the top job.

On Monday, Isabirye used his Twitter handle to report that he had been involved in a car accident on his way from Kitende.

But what is next in this movie?

Thursday will certainly give the story another angle. Could it be that Isabirye and the club will officially part ways or reach a compromise for him to stay and build on what he started midway through last season?

His stay at the club will be the bigger surprise, but should the two parties choose to go separate ways, it will be nothing new in Kitende. Coaches have come and gone, regardless of their performances.
