Taddeo Lwanga can easily be christened with another nickname, the journeyman.

However, the 29-year-old has also proved pivotal at all the clubs he has featured at, putting up great individual displays with his combative, aggressive approach in the midfield holding role.

With APR FC having revised their decision on signing foreign players for the first time in 10 years, the target set is to reach the CAF Champions League group stages, a place the engineer is familiar with.

Lwanga has amassed a combined total of 18 appearances in the CAF inter-club competitions, 11 in the CAF Champions League and 7 in the Confederation Cup, mostly while he was at Simba.

He was also part of the Simba squad that reached the CAF Champions League quarter-finals in the 2020/21 campaign, which makes him a valuable addition to APR FC as they also seek to make their maiden group stage appearance.

The former Tanta FC and Arta Solar midfielder also possesses leadership qualities, having captained former clubs back home in Uganda.

Taddeo captained SC Villa and Vipers SC. While at the latter, he guided the Venoms to their third league title in the 2017/18 season.

His lack of goals is his only shortfall. Still, he has scored important goals before at the different clubs he has featured for, most notably the winner for Simba in 2020 during the Kariakoo derby in the Azam Sports Federation Cup final.

Along with other foreigners set to join the Lion’s den, defending the Rwanda Premier League title will be the main target next season.
